Syntroleum / Marathon Oil - GTL Fuels and Catalyst Regeneration Plant • A Gas-to-Liquids (ultra-clean), synthetic fuels demonstration plant producing 70 barrels/day using Syntroleum GTL technology was installed on a grass roots site. The EPC project utilized modularized process units comprised of 151 new and 37 relocated pieces of equipment. The site had no OSHA inspection violations or citations.
Petronas - Refinery Expansion Feasibility • The 200,000 BPD expansion feasibility study included Licensor Technology determination and evaluation, process design and integration, and ±30% TIC estimate for over 450 major pieces of equipment. Complete process designs and yields were provided for Hydrotreater, Delayed Coker, Reformer, Reformate Splitter, Benzene Extraction, Hydrogenation, Isomerization, Alkylation and Extractive Merox Units.

TAKREER - Green Diesel Project • A refinery upgrade to produce Low Sulfur “Green” Diesel. Unit modifications included the hydrocracker, hydrotreater, vacuum, sour water, amine and off-site/utility units. The FEED package included a ±15% estimate, overall EPC schedule and Licensor Technology incorporation.

SABIC (Petrokemya) - PVC Plant Debottlenecking Project • PVC facility expansion resulted in a 40% production increase. Front End Engineering Design provided evaluation, design and implementation of Licensor technologies, Procurement and Expediting services, and process modification design of existing facilities. The project was completed 3 months ahead of schedule and under budget.
QAFAC - Methanol / Ammonia Complex • A FEED package including project estimates, schedules and an ITB package for Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) bids. The $900MM TIC project required Methanol and Ammonia process Licensor Technology integration, an air separation plant, OSBL storage and utility facilities, infrastructure, marine jetty and ship loading, and Environmental Impact Assessments involving 235 major pieces of equipment.
Qatar Petroleum – New Olefins Facility FEED Study • As “Owner’s Engineer”, developed a “pre-FEED” package for a $2 Billion olefins complex while providing technology guidance and project program management for the FEED package and cost estimate. Process technologies included a combined feed cracker producing ethylene and propylene, ethylene dimerization and metathesis units producing propylene feed and aromatics units to produce styrene and polystyrene.

ICI Americas - KLEA®134a Plant • In June 1990, ICI began the engineering, procurement and construction management of a grassroots facility for the production of an environmentally friendly CFC refrigerant. The project was completed in two years, four months ahead of schedule and under budget using only laboratory and pilot plant data.
Shell Chemical - Waterborne Resins Project • The debottlenecking implemented provided a 70 percent increase in plant capacity. Modifications included demolition, relocation and the addition of 15 major pieces of equipment in an operating facility. The improvements included better handling of products, reduced product degradation prior to drumming or bulk shipping and new dispersion resin products from the modifications to an existing reactor.
Arboris - Sterols Plant • A pilot plant to production facility, grass roots scale up project. The food grade sterol manufacturing facility operations include Solvent Dissolution, Crystallization, Filtration, Solvent Drying, Thin Film Evaporation, Distillation, warehousing, product loading and fire protection. Completed on Schedule and Budget in 24 months from pilot to commercial operation.
Arizona Chemical Co. - Resins Project • A Front End definitive scope and +/- 10% cost estimate for a resins plant expansion project involving the entire manufacturing chain, from raw material storage, through to product packaging and shipping. Working closely with Arizona Chemical personnel, the project brought together best in class technology in an existing and a grass roots facility to improve resin production and quality. EPC and unit operation design services included reactor sizing, heat transfer, estimating, mixing/agitation, solids handling, loading and packaging, refrigeration and utilities.

Merck - Simvastatin Project • Various confidential projects were executed to produce Simvastatin, the lipid-lowering drug that decreases low density lipoprotein (LDL) and inhibits the progression of atherosclerosis. Engineering services, in excess $1.0 MM, included Detailed Design Packages. Projects were executed on time and on budget.
Warner Lambert - Actifed/Sudafed Facility • Services provided included engineering and facility design, process studies, validation, auditing, commissioning and startup support for a $30MM nasal decongestant, Liquid Fill Finish facility.

PCS Phosphates - Defluorinated Phosphate Plant • A 175,000 TPY DFP facility for animal feed product was constructed on a Greenfield site within the PCS fertilizer complex. The facility was designed around the largest rotary kiln utilized in the world for DFP production and included SO2 scrubbing to meet environmental requirements. Services included engineering, procurement and construction management.
J.R. Simplot – Dicalcium Phosphate Granulation Plant • Complete lump sum turnkey services, including performance guarantees were provided, with a schedule of 15 months from the start of basic engineering to plant start-up. Services included basic engineering, detailed design, procurement, construction, operator training, and commissioning/start-up assistance. The plant is also capable of producing mono calcium phosphate and triple super-phosphate.
SF Phosphates - P205 Expansion • An 84,000 MTPY expansion project with a $36MM Total Installed Cost. Full Engineering and Procurement services were provided for the installation of UCEGO® No. 11 Filter, a 3rd stage evaporator, clarifier, acid storage, wet scrubber, a new control room and various steel structures.

National Starch and Chemicals - Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade • The upgrade of the existing WWTP met new effluent requirements and provided OSHA 1910 compliant operating manuals, operator training and start-up. The design required the installation of 55 additional pieces of equipment, including a new Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system to treat an organic and polymeric waste stream from a multi-product chemical/consumer product facility.
Eli Lilly - Incinerator Plant Upgrade • EPA / RCRA Incinerator emissions compliance was achieved through an operating system and upstream process analysis coupled with system integration. Overall incinerator efficiency was achieved primarily through the optimization of instrumentation control elements and programming of the Fisher Provox DCS and GE Series 1 PLC.
BP Oil Co. – Benzene NESHAP’s Project • New Benzene emission regulations required sewer enclosure, design of a new wastewater treatment facility and closure of existing basins. The new facility included a benzene stripper, vent incinerator, oil/water separator, equalization tanks and a dissolved gas flotation system using nitrogen. Engineering scope included full EPCm services, permitting support, closure plans and OSHA 1910 compliant operating manuals and training.
Valero Energy - Sulfur Removal Plant Upgrade • A new SO2 Scrubber was installed to remove acid gases from an existing Sulfuric Acid Plant Tail Gas unit at the McKee Refinery near Sunray, TX. Engineering services included detailed engineering and all equipment necessary to meet the performance specification, providing 99% removal of acidic sulfur species from the target gas stream. Project components included a caustic day tank, FRP process vessels, a scrubber blower and 100’ discharge gas stack.

Qatargas – Gas Turbine Waste Heat Recovery FEED Study • A FEED study for Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (Qatargas) to determine optimum Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) design to produce medium pressure steam. The project improved thermal efficiency of their LNG facility via the utilization of waste heat recovered from Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) exhaust. The integrated system consisted of five steam boilers and six Gas Turbine Generators.

Celotex – Wallboard Waste Reclaim Retrofit • Engineering services for the 12 TPH, reclamation project involved the design and configuration of major equipment including crusher, knife hog, storage bins, belt/screw conveyors, bucket elevators, volumetric feeders and a dust collection system.
Philip Morris – Export Cut Filler • A $20 million installation of a cigarette cut filler manufacturing operation involving 20 major pieces of equipment, 150 tons of steel, complete DCS/PLC automation and Systems integration. EP services included Detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Support.
Celotex - Ceiling Tile Plant Automation • A completely automated Control System design and configuration was provided as part of the Engineering and start-up support services. The system, based on Allen Bradley PLC, provided control of 3 tenoners, a paint booth, a drying oven, a packaging machine (shrink-wrap), Conveying System, and 23 Variable Frequency Drives.

Hillsborough County, FL – Valrico AWTP Expansion • The Valrico Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWTP) was expanded from 6.0 to 12.0 MGD and included the additions of an Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection system and a Reclaimed Water Pumping Station. Engineering services provided consisted primarily of Civil / Structural engineering. Engineering work included an assessment of the existing structures conditions, headwork’s modifications liner and structural integrity evaluations, foundation modifications, reinforced concrete structures for storage tank support, oxidation ditches, the influent splitter box, clarifiers, filter structure, pump stations, UV system, chlorine concentrate tanks, and the Sodium Hypochlorite and Alum Feed systems. Additional scope consisted of miscellaneous concrete slabs, an Electrical building, elevated concrete tank support floors, piles and pile caps, reinforced CMU walls and steel truss design, concrete trenches, a structural steel canopy, aluminum gratings, walkways, stairs and pipe supports, spread footings, slabs, pump foundations, and a 2.5-ton monorail.
ICI Hillsborough County, FL – Lithia WTP Pump Capacity • Provided full Engineering and Procurement services for the installation of additional potable water pumping capacity and an emergency backup generator at a municipal facility. Project scope included installing Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) on the new, 25,000 gpm, as well as replacing existing pump drives with VFD’s. Tasks included current and projected water use determination, expansion options development and cost estimates, equipment specification and test run observation, and water quality compliance and acceptance participation.
Hillsborough County, FL – Falkenburg AWTP Expansion • Civil, Structural, Instrumentation and Electrical engineering services were provided for the expansion of the Falkenburg AWTP from 6.0 to 9.0 MGD, the South / Central Pumping Station addition and the Telemetry Improvements projects near Tampa, Florida. With a final installed cost of $11.4M, both project design and construction was completed on time and on budget. The project included the addition of new treatment facilities, pumps, 5 M gal storage tank, and SCADA system improvements for the entire facility (distributed control via PLC’s located throughout the facility) and the South / Central Service Area. As a subcontractor, services included electrical and instrumentation Construction Support, Shop Drawing reviews, engineering field observations of construction work and facility start-up.

Ma’Aden - Magnasite Project • A 195,000 tonnes/yr open pit magnesite mine and processing facility. Ore processing is via Multiple Hearth Furnace (MHF) and Vertical Shaft Kiln (VSK) to produce caustic magnesia, sintered magnesia, caustic calcined magnesia (CCM), electrofused magnesia (EFM), and dead burned magnesia (DBM). Services include FEED package, detailed engineering and design, procurement assistance, construction management, operating and maintenance (O & M) manuals and training.
TAKREER - Sulfur Handling Expansion Study • A process study identifying facilities required to handle an increase to 8000 TPD of liquid Sulfur received by the Sulfur Handling Terminal (SHT) at the Ruwais Refining Complex. Existing facilities include sulfur granulation, liquid and solid sulfur storage, and an import and export marine terminal. Study recommendations include ± 30% cost estimates, maintenance, reliability and flexibility considerations and required FEED package scope.
